Abstract
To identify the relationship between drinking and smoking behavior and delinquent behaviors of high school boys in Taegu, the study was performed from April to May, 1995. Study population were selected by cluster sampling method and total 3,765 students replied to the self-administered questionnaire survey(1,382 in general high school, 2,383 in vocational high school).

The major findings were as follows;

Drinking and smoking behavior(both present drinking and smoking, either present drinking or smoking, never drinking and smoking) were related significantly with delinquent behaviors(daily life problem behaviors, delinquency related behaviors, other drug abuse).

The students who had both present drinking and smoking behavior were more inclined to commit delinquent behaviors when compared with students who had either present drinking or smoking behavior. The students who had either present drinking or smoking behavior. The students who had either present drinking or smoking behavior were more inclined to commit delinquent behaviors when compared with students who had never experienced drinking and smoking.

In multiple logistic regression analysis for delinquent behaviors, second grade students, general high school students, parents¡¯ indifference, higher school grades, punished friend, higher level of stress, and present drinking and smoking behavior were significantly related with problem behavior at home. Problem behaviors at school were related with general high school students, parents¡¯ indifference, lower school grades, punished friend, higher level of stress, and present drinking and smoking behavior.

Problem behaviors in personal relations were related with general high school students, parents¡¯ indifference, punished friend, higher level of stress, and present drinking and smoking behavior. Money related problem behaviors were related with vocational high school students, parents¡¯ indifference, lower school grades, punished friend, higher level of stress, and present drinking and smoking behavior.

Delinquency related behaviors were related with vocational high school students, parents¡¯ indifference, punished friend, higher level of stress, and resent drinking and smoking behavior. Other drug abuse were related with vocational high school students, punished friend, higher level of stress, and present drinking and smoking behavior.

Above findings of close relationship between drinking and smoking of adolescents and delinquent behaviors suggest that a drinking and smoking prevention program for adolescents should be developed in center with home, school, and society.
